8 days of Red, White and Blue Quilts - day 4

We're celebrating Independence Day with 8 days of red, white and blue quilts! The Declaration of Independence (July 4, 1776), says: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." We hope your happiness includes plenty of quilting.

Patriot Sampler Quilt by Lynn Miller


This embroidered Patriot Sampler Quilt won first place in the Salute America theme at the 2017 Arizona Quilters Guild show. Lynn Miller says, “My interest in quilt history along with my love of antique/vintage quilts and linens was my inspiration for this patriot themed quilt. Being a quilt maker for over 30 years, I appreciate the time and talent in these forgotten embroidered pillow tops, dress scarfs and wall hangings."


Lynn collected this group of patriotic linens while traveling throughout the United States over the past 15 years.  She says, "I love seeing all of the inspiring sayings, from “God Bless America” to “I Pledge Allegiance to the Flag” to “Let Freedom Ring”.


Lynn Miller describes the Patriot Sampler Quilt as a tribute, to recognize and honor women’s work of the past, while inspiring today’s quilt makers.

  3. I love her choice of background for this quilt. A lot of embroidered quilts I see, the surrounding fabric is so strong it make the stitched pieces fade. Here they shine! A great quilt. Thanks for sharing it.
